Highway 227 conditions -
Brought to you by:
No impact to travel reported
HIGHWAY 227 IS NOT A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE TO I 5. IT HAS HAZARDS THAT CAN LEAD TO VEHICLES GETTING STUCK AND NEEDING COSTLY TOW/ RECOVERY TO GET OUT OF.
This highway is a paved logging road essentially. I am aware of trucking companies that will not let their drivers take this route for any reason. There are number of SHARP hairpins in Jackson County that standard 53 foot commercial trailers will have great difficulty negotiating. Even longer length travel trailers producing a combined vehicle length over 35 feet have difficulty negotiating the haripins. In Douglas County there are sections where this is an extremely narrow roadway. You are warned. Don't be surprised by what this road does. Take it at your own risk.....especially in winter.
