Road conditions for Southern Oregon and Northern California.
We are now in summer repair season for both ODOT and Cal Trans in the mountains. From now through the end of September they will be doing maintenance projects on highways through the mountains that will include, sweeping of cinders, repair of potholes, repainting lane markers, safety striping, and fog lines. There will also be culvert repairs happening. All of these types of projects will cause little impact for travelers. Delays will be less than 5 to 10 minutes if they even occur. These maintenance projects also can happen without any indication on Trip Check in Oregon, or on the Cal Trans website. Be alert at all times when travelling in the mountains of Southern Oregon and Northern California for highway workers, their equipment, or vehicles slowing or stopping due to work being done.
Expect potentially lengthy delays on I 5 from Weed to Castella in Northern California. Due to construction on going on the Dunsmuir Grade, it can take up to 2 hours to go from Weed to Castella. This applies to both north and south bound travel.
